Truth Be Told Speakers @ NACA Mid America

I made it to Kentucky for the NACA Mid America conference. We have a great spot for the Truth Be Told booth and have already met a lot of great students and their advisors looking for events and speakers.

Tomorrow is Halloween and I do have a costume just trying to get up the courage to wear it! I'll post a photo tomorrow.

In the meantime our chapstick giveaway is a hit! If anyone reading this is at the conference stop by booth 205!

Here what Philander Smith College had to say about Kemba Smith....

This past Thursday (10/15) Kemba Smith spoke to the students at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. Kemba spoke about being advocates for Social Justice and shared her experience. She also had lunch with a group of women student leaders after the speech.

See what Philander's President, Dr. Walter Kimbrough had to say about Kemba:

"My campus buzzed all day after Kemba spoke. We had at least 30 young women who want more time with her, as many in their own ways identify with her story. They are definitely interested in her coming back, which speaks volumes about the power of her message."

Meet Kemba Smith - Truth Be Told Speaker of the Month

This month we are featuring speaker Kemba Smith as the Speaker of the Month!

As an insecure and naive college student at Hampton University, Kemba Smith got involved with the wrong guy and a drug ring which led to a pregnancy and a 24 year prison sentence. Prior to this, she had a clean record. After serving 6 1/2 years (1994-2000) she was pardoned by President Bill Clinton and now speaks about her experience (a good kid who made a bad choice) and speaks out against mandatory sentencing.

Take a minute to hear Kemba talk about her experience in her own words.

I also wanted to include the memorable EMERGE MAGAZINE cover that brought Kemba’s story to the forefront. I know for me this image was unforgettable.

NACA Update - Day 2 - Check out our booth 413

So things are great here at the NACA Conference and we have had some really great people come by the booth from schools from the South region. By the way, our booth is actually 413.

It's a flurry of activity including a lady across from us challenging buyers to strength endurance contests! Today even Dres from Black Sheep was in the house and stopped by the Truth Be Told booth with his manager. That's me with Dres below.
